Auscript wins exclusive Queensland DJAG Recording and Transcription contractDawn Mahler
Fast becoming the world’s largest digital court reporting firm, Auscript has won a major contract to undertake recording and transcription services for the Queensland Department of Justice and Attorney-General.
Under the terms of the contract announced today, Brisbane-based Auscript will provide exclusive services for the Queensland Government for six years with options to extend for a further four years.
It means that Auscript will inject over 100 new jobs into the Queensland economy and will look to include the employment of staff from the outsourced State Reporting Bureau (SRB).
Auscript CEO and Managing Director, Peter Wyatt, said the appointment followed an exhaustive and challenging tender process leading up to and over Christmas, 2012.
He said the Queensland Government contract was a tremendous coup for the Queensland-owned company, which has more than 90 years’ experience in court recording and transcription services.
“We are extremely pleased to be making this announcement today which further reinforces Auscript as the market leader in mission-critical digital recording and transcription services for justice, business, government and law enforcement clients,’’ Mr Wyatt said.
Mr Wyatt said Auscript’s entire recording and transcription service for Queensland courts and tribunals would be performed in Australia, predominately in Queensland where the company’s headquarters is located.
“The majority of the work will be done here in Brisbane and we will utilise our secure Australian network when required,” he said.
“Auscript does not process any transcription work for any client off-shore and has no intention to do so. We are totally committed to our Australian workforce.’’
Originally established in 1921 as the Commonwealth Reporting Service and privatised in the late 1990’s, Auscript captures, stores, distributes and transcribes public and confidential records for Federal and State Courts, Family Courts, legal firms, law enforcement and government agencies.
Auscript operates seven offices across Australia to provide digital recording and transcription services for hundreds of clients and Courtrooms.
