Record Holdings to acquire court technology firm ForTheRecord from MelbourneITDawn Mahler
Australian company Record Holdings, owner of software development house Court Record Solutions (CRS) and Australian recording and transcription firm Auscript, has today executed an agreement to purchase the world leader in evidence recording technology ForTheRecord (FTR) from MelbourneIT.
This new acquisition will expand development on the industry-standard ForTheRecord software suite and lead to powerful integrations with Court Record Solutions’ next-generation record access and management tools, including web court streaming and web-based transcript production workflow management.
For FTR, CRS and Auscript clients alike this is very significant and a game changer in the goal to provide integrated end-to-end client focused solutions that save time and money with a high level of reliability.
Record Holdings CEO Peter Wyatt said the deal follows a partnership agreement signed between CRS and FTR on 19 September 2012 that renewed market interest in digital court recording processes and systems across the world, especially in the USA which is FTR’s core market.
“This new acquisition represents another exciting milestone for Record Holdings and its subsidiary companies at a time of strong market growth for the recording and transcription technology sector,’’ Mr Wyatt said.
The FTR and CRS products are integral to the success of Auscript’s recording and transcription operation, which spans more than 500 digital courtrooms and 8 production offices across Australia.
Going forward, Auscript’s highly focused, client-centric and time-critical real world production environment will continue to be the proving ground for the new technologies that will enhance the way the digital record is produced, managed and used.
The board of Record Holdings has made it very clear that the Group, including Auscript, has no plans now or in the future to provide transcription services to US courts. Rather, FTR will draw on the unique experiences of CRS and Auscript to provide real-world expertise and consulting services in the US (and global) market to assist both the court, transcription and stenography markets in unlocking the true benefits and cost savings of digitisation.
The deal will close on 30 August 2013.
